The peak season is July and August, when it is crowded and the water in the lake may be murky. In spring and autumn, there are fewer tourists, but rain is possible. In winter, roads to the lake are sometimes closed due to snowfall, although the lake itself rarely freezes.

Swimming in Lake Ritsa is officially prohibited, as it is a protected area. Moreover, the water here is very cold — even in summer it warms up to a maximum of +17 °C, and on average stays around +10 °C. So it is better to just admire the beauty, ride catamarans, and walk around the area.
