Where is it better to exchange money, at Kuala Lumpur Airport or Langkawi?

Definitely better to exchange at Langkawi airport. At Kuala Lumpur airport in both terminals, the exchange rate is the worst we have encountered in Malaysia in different cities and airports.

We compared the rates on the same day with a gap of a few hours, here is what we got:

• Dollars (new series):
  • At KLIA airport (in both terminals) – 3.72
  • At Langkawi airport – 3.84
  • Difference – ≈ 3.2% (rate in Langkawi is 3.23% higher)
• Old series dollars – at KLIA airport they are accepted at a terrible rate: only 2 ringgit, almost half the price.
• Euro (same for old and new):
  • At KLIA airport (in both terminals) – 4.25
  • At Langkawi airport – 4.576
  • Difference – ≈ 7.7% (rate in Langkawi is 7.67% higher)
