A standard group excursion from Sharm el-Sheikh to Cairo and the pyramids usually includes several mandatory points. The program is quite busy, although tight on time.

Here is what is typically included in the tour:

  • Transfer from the hotel and back on a comfortable bus.
  • Visit to the Giza pyramid complex: viewing the three great pyramids (Cheops, Khafre, and Menkaure), the small pyramids of the queens, and of course the Great Sphinx.
  • Visit to the National Museum of Egypt in Cairo (about 1-1.5 hours).
  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Visit to "museums" β€” usually a papyrus factory and a perfume and oils museum. These are commercial establishments where you will be actively persuaded to buy something.

For an additional fee, you can book a Nile cruise ($10) or entry inside the Cheops pyramid ($20). Read the full list of tips and description of each stage of the excursion in our guide: Trip to Cairo and the Pyramids from Sharm el-Sheikh.
