In Abkhazia, fuel quality can vary greatly from station to station, so choosing a gas station requires a responsible approach. The best advice is to fill a full tank with quality gasoline in Russia just before entering, for example at the Rosneft gas station near the Psou checkpoint in Sochi. If refueling in Abkhazia is unavoidable, choose trusted networks.
Here are the gas stations we recommend based on personal experience and reviews from local drivers:
- Rosneft (local, not to be confused with the Russian network). Considered the best in fuel quality. There are only three stations, all located on the highway outside cities. Russian bonus cards do not work here.
- Azid. According to employees, the fuel is the same as at Rosneft, but a couple of rubles more expensive. However, there are more stations in this network, and they are in cities, which is convenient.
- Podorozhnik. Also a decent option, but we haven't personally tested it.
But it's better to stay away from small private gas stations — they often have underfilling and low-quality fuel. Prices as of 2026 are approximately: AI-95 from 64 rubles, AI-92 from 52 rubles, diesel from 64 rubles.
We have detailed all gas stations and their addresses in the article How to go to Abkhazia by car – everything tourists need to know.
