The nearest metro (LRT) station to the Sultan Abdul Samad Building is Masjid Jamek. It is one of the key interchange stations in central Kuala Lumpur, where two lines intersect: the Kelana Jaya Line (red) and the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line (orange).

From the exit of Masjid Jamek station, it is only a 5-7 minute walk to the building. You will need to cross the Klang River via a bridge and you will arrive at Merdeka Square, in the center of which stands the majestic Sultan Abdul Samad Building. The route is very simple and intuitive, and along the way you will see other attractions, such as the Jamek Mosque.

You can reach Masjid Jamek station from almost any area of the city. It is the fastest, cheapest, and most convenient way to avoid traffic jams in central Kuala Lumpur.

If you prefer surface transport, many city buses also stop nearby. However, the metro remains the optimal choice for a first visit. For more details on all transport options in the city, including metro maps, read our guide: Kuala Lumpur transport.
