No, that's not entirely true. Despite the abundance of duty-free shops in Kuah, prices there are not always the lowest on the island. Based on our personal comparison experience, at Cenang Beach, the same products, especially alcohol, are often cheaper than in the duty-free shops in Kuah.
Our recommendation: It's definitely not worth going to Kuah specifically for duty-free shopping. First, check the prices in the shops where you are staying (for example, in Cenang). Most likely, you will find everything you need at comparable or even better prices, without spending time and money on transfer to Kuah.
