Getting from the main port of Langkawi, Kuah Jetty, to the popular Cenang beach (Pantai Cenang) is easiest by taxi, or more precisely β through the Grab app.
Grab is a local analogue of Uber that operates throughout the island. A ride from Kuah Jetty to Cenang beach via Grab will cost approximately 20-25 ringgit (about 4-5 dollars) and take 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Alternatives:
- Official taxi at the port exit: More expensive β about 40 ringgit. The price is fixed, bargaining is useless.
- Renting transport directly at the port: In the Kuah Jetty terminal building, there are car and motorcycle rental counters. If you plan to move around the island actively, renting a bike (from 45 ringgit/day) or a car can be a cost-effective option. Don't forget your international driver's license.
Unfortunately, there is no public transport (buses) on Langkawi. Therefore, Grab is the optimal balance of price and comfort for getting to your hotel.
