Answer (changed )

You can get from Puerto Princesa city to the underground river in three main ways: with an organized tour, by rented transport, or by public transport. The distance to Sabang village, where the tour starts, is about 70 km, and the journey takes 1.5-2 hours.

1. With a tour (the easiest way)

This is the most popular and convenient option. Numerous travel agencies in Puerto Princesa offer group tours, which usually include hotel transfer, all permits, boats, lunch, and guide services. The cost starts from 2200 pesos (about $40) per person. Tours can be purchased from street agencies, at the hotel, or online. Russian Mir cards work, for example, on Trip.com.

Disadvantage of tours: you will be in the thick of things during peak hours (approximately from 10:00 to 14:00), when the river has the most tourists.

2. Independently by rented transport (the most flexible way)

Rent a car or scooter in Puerto Princesa. This will give you freedom and allow you to arrive at opening time at 07:00, avoiding crowds. Depart early in the morning (at 5-6 am) to make it to the ticket office opening. The road leads to the pier in Sabang, where there is free parking. After obtaining tickets, you board a boat to the cave.

3. By public transport (the most budget-friendly, but unstable)

From the new Irawan bus station in Puerto Princesa to Sabang, jeepneys or minivans run a couple of times a day. The cost is about 300 pesos, but there is no clear scheduleβ€”they depart as they fill up. There are also private minivans that can be found through travel agencies, priced at about 500 pesos per person or 3500 pesos for the entire vehicle.
