Getting to the Imperial Citadel in Hue is very easy, as it is located right in the city center. The main entrance for tourists is through the southern gate Ngo Mon, which is located opposite the Flag Tower.

Main ways to get there:

  • By taxi or motorbike (Grab): This is the most convenient option. A ride from the tourist area (for example, from Pham Ngu Lao Street) will cost about 40,000 – 60,000 dong and take 5-10 minutes. The exact address of the ticket offices and entrance: view on Google Maps.
  • On foot: If you are staying in the center, you can walk to the citadel in 20-30 minutes — it's a pleasant city walk.
  • By bicycle: Many hotels and guesthouses offer bicycle rentals. This is a great way to get there and then explore the surroundings.

Please note that the citadel territory itself is huge (walls 2x2 km), but the historical museum complex (Royal Palace) is located inside. You need to get to the southern entrance, where the ticket offices are located. Before entering, don't forget to take a photo against the backdrop of the Phu Van Lau pavilion — it is depicted on the 50,000 dong banknote.
