Entry to Hoi An Old Town itself is completely free. You can walk along its streets, the waterfront, admire the facades and atmosphere without any charge. However, if you want to go inside key historical sites—museums, ancient houses, temples, and communal houses—you will need to purchase a single ticket.
The single ticket costs 120,000 Vietnamese dong (about 5 dollars) and is valid for three days from the time of purchase. It gives you the right to visit five sites of your choice from a general list that includes 25 places. If you want to see more, you can buy two tickets and visit 10 sites, and so on.
You can buy the ticket at ticket offices at the entrance to popular attractions (for example, near the Japanese Bridge) or conveniently and quickly online with card payment. Most pleasures—walking along the evening streets with lanterns, taking photos against the backdrop of the Japanese Bridge, visiting markets—are available for free.
