How much does a boat ride on the river in Hoi An cost?

The standard 20-minute ride on a traditional rowing boat on the Thu Bon River in Hoi An costs from 170,000 Vietnamese dong per boat for 1-3 people. If there are more of you, for example, 4-5 people, the price will be around 220,000 dong per boat. These are fixed prices that usually apply in the evening at the official ticket office on the embankment.

It's important to understand that this is the price for the entire boat, not per person. Therefore, for a couple or a small group, this is quite a budget-friendly activity. At the end of the trip, the boatmen typically expect small tips, but this is at your discretion.

In addition to standard rides, there are other options:

• Daytime private rides: During the day, the ticket office often doesn't work, and you can negotiate individually with a boatman. The price may be negotiable, sometimes you can find cheaper offers.
• Longer tours or cruises: More extended trips on larger boats or motorboats, sometimes with dinner, cost more — from 500,000 dong and above.

We advise not to agree to the first offer from touts, but to go to the ticket office on the embankment near the bridge to An Hoi Island (An Hoi Bridge). There, the prices are transparent and fixed. Also, keep in mind that in the evening, especially after sunset, demand is at its peak, so there are many boats and there may be queues.
