Gastronomy in Vietnam has its own peculiarities. It cannot be definitively said that it is cheaper than in Thailand. The dishes here are less spicy, there is no such cult of chili. Here is what is worth trying and what to pay attention to:

  • Seafood delicacies: Lobsters, oysters, crabs — here they are cheaper and the quality is excellent. Be sure to try baked oysters in a local cafe.
  • Vietnamese Pho soup (Phở): Delicious, inexpensive, and very filling. Portions are huge, take this into account when ordering.
  • Street food: There are local analogues of Thai "makashniki" — street cafes with minimal choice but the lowest prices.
  • Alcohol: Local wine from Dalat is not distinguished by sophistication, but the price is not high. Beer, according to seasoned travelers, is cheap. But rum is a separate story, there are excellent options.

An important life hack: do not order according to the "first course, second course, and compote" scheme right away. Portions are large, you might not manage. It is better to order one dish at a time and enjoy it leisurely.
