Entry to Ba Dinh Square itself in Hanoi is completely free. You can freely (after passing through a checkpoint with inspection) walk around its vast territory, photograph buildings and monuments from the outside. However, visiting individual attractions located on the square may be paid.

Here are the current ticket prices for the main objects (in Vietnamese dong):

  • Ho Chi Minh Museum: 40,000 dong.
  • Presidential Palace Complex (Ho Chi Minh's Vestige Area): 40,000 dong. For an additional fee (50,000 dong), you can take an audio guide, but there is no Russian language.
  • Park on the eastern side of the square: 2,000 dong.

You can visit for free:

  • Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (entry inside is free, but strict rules apply).
  • One Pillar Pagoda.
  • National Monument.

Important point about hidden expenses! At the entrance through the checkpoint, there is a dress code. If you are wearing a T-shirt, short shorts, or a skirt, you may not be allowed in. There are no official free cloaks, but near the entrance, local vendors often offer to buy them at an inflated price (about 200,000 dong, but you can bargain down to 30,000-50,000). It's better to dress appropriately in advance.

Also, during the inspection, they do not allow lighters, knives (even pocket knives), and any items resembling weapons. There are no storage lockers for such things; you will have to throw them away.

Thus, the main cost of visiting Ba Dinh Square consists of tickets to the museums you want to visit. When planning your budget, also consider the cost of transfer to the square (taxi from 45,000 dong from the center).
