Are there good beaches on Cebu Island?

In fact, there are almost no normal beaches for classic relaxation on Cebu Island itself. This is one of the main myths about this popular Philippine island. The coastline stretches over 550 km, but there are only a few places suitable for swimming and relaxation. The only fully equipped resort on the island itself is Moalboal. In the capital, Cebu City, there are no beaches at all; you need to travel several hours to reach the nearest ones.

The main problem with Cebu's beaches is strong low tides. During low tide, the water recedes far, exposing rocks and corals, making swimming impossible. The water level depends not on the time of day but on lunar cycles, and it needs to be checked using special charts.

If you are going to Cebu specifically for beach relaxation, it is better to consider neighboring islands belonging to Cebu province, such as Bantayan or Malapascua. The beach situation there is significantly better.
