There are no direct flights from Russia to Jaffna. International flights arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, from where you need to travel to Jaffna by other means. Jaffna Airport only accepts domestic flights from Colombo, operated by local airlines such as Air Senok, FitsAir, and others.

To get to Jaffna, you first need to fly to Colombo. Flights from Moscow to Colombo with one stopover cost approximately 500 US dollars. Tickets can be booked on websites like Aviasales or Trip.com. After arriving in Colombo, you can choose one of the following options:

  • Domestic flight to Jaffna: expensive and unreliable due to frequent flight cancellations.
  • Train: a comfortable and scenic way, taking 7-8 hours.
  • Bus: a budget option, but takes 8-12 hours.
  • Taxi: fast but expensive, about 6 hours on the road.

Note that from other cities in Sri Lanka, such as Negombo, Kandy, or southern resorts, there are also no direct flights to Jaffna, and transfers through Colombo or other transport hubs will be required.
