The Sambodhi Chaitya Stupa is a 20-meter-high white Buddhist stupa located in the Colombo Fort area near the port. It has no great historical value but serves as a reminder that Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country. You can climb to the top of the stupa via stairs, where there is an observation deck with views of the port and city. Admission is free, operating hours are from 09:00 to 16:00, except Sunday. The stupa is located on the grounds of the Maritime Museum, which can also be visited for free. You can get here on foot from The Kingsbury hotel, heading towards the port.
