Pay in cash at the end of the trip in the local currency – Sri Lankan rupees. Dollars or euros are rarely accepted and at an unfavorable exchange rate. Exchange money at Colombo Airport (the rate there is acceptable) or at city banks.

In Uber and PickMe apps, choose the 'Cash payment' option (it is set by default after installing and activating the apps). Never agree to pay in dollars if the price was initially quoted in rupees – this is a common trick.
