Are electronic cigarettes sold in Vietnam?

Since January 1, 2025, a ban has been introduced on the production, sale, transportation, use and advertising of all types of electronic cigarettes. The ban is new and it is not yet clear how strictly it will be enforced and whether the sale will actually be prohibited, but all local media report that it has been introduced and is already in effect.

From personal experience, as of mid-2025, despite the current ban, it is still possible to buy e-cigarettes locally. There are no official retail outlets for electronic cigarettes, but devices are sold from stalls in markets, especially night markets, and they are not even hidden on the counters until the police appear.
