Do I need an adapter for sockets in the Philippines, are our plugs suitable?

The characteristics of the electrical network in the Philippines are the same as in Russia – 220 volts, 50 hertz. That is, all devices produced for the Russian Federation work here without problems. However, sockets and plugs here are of a different type – two-prong flat, not compatible with those used in the Russian Federation. At the same time, the vast majority of hotels have universal compatible sockets for both types, so you won't need an adapter. In those hotels where there are no compatible sockets, the reception offers adapters free of charge for temporary use.

However, in less popular resorts, cheap guesthouses or private accommodation, you may encounter a situation where there are neither compatible sockets nor adapters. We have encountered this during our trips several times, for example, in Palawan in Sabang and Puerto Princesa, on Siquijor Island. In such a case, it is better to take care of having an adapter in advance. You can buy it in any supermarket and at markets, costing from 30 pesos.
