Contrary to what some bloggers and online "guides" publish about the prohibition of carrying "fruit baskets" from Taiwan by a particular airline, in reality, carrying a basket in carry-on luggage is not prohibited by airlines. The problem is that many sources do not delve into the essence of such "prohibitions" and provide not entirely reliable or incomplete information on the topic, or perhaps simply do not have reliable information. The essence is that baskets and fruits themselves do not pose any danger for air travel and are therefore not among the prohibited items and are allowed without problems for air transport both in carry-on and checked baggage. That is, in the rules of airlines and airports, there is no prohibition on carrying "fruit baskets" in carry-on or checked baggage.

However, there is a small grain of truth in what bloggers write and travelers report in reviews. The thing is that many airlines, mainly those working with tour operators and operating charter flights under package tours, allow taking an additional basket of fruits beyond the standard carry-on and baggage allowance, which does not require additional payment. That is, it is a kind of "bonus" that is mainly allowed on charter flights for Russian package tourists. However, in recent years, some airlines have started to prohibit carrying this additional basket or allow it only for a fee, as a full additional piece of carry-on luggage. Hence, apparently, the myth was born that fruit baskets were banned from carry-on luggage.

So, in conclusion, let us repeat: you can carry a "fruit basket" in carry-on or checked baggage on a plane, and there is no prohibition on this, provided, of course, that your basket complies with the airline's rules and specifically your ticket. However, keep in mind that airline rules regarding weight, size, and number of pieces may differ between different airlines, on different flights, and for different airfare tariffs, so this should be clarified before each specific flight in the itinerary receipt, on the airline's website, or with the tour operator. If you want to carry a basket in addition to carry-on and this is not allowed by the rules on a specific flight, you will have to pay for it.

Just in case, let us also add that there is another myth that fruits can only be carried on a plane in baskets. This is also unreliable information. That is, you can carry fruits in any container, suitcase, backpack, bag, etc., as long as its weight and dimensions comply with the size and weight regulations.
