Nicholas Cathedral in Kazan
This beautiful Cathedral is located near the Kazan Kremlin, Bauman street, so rare tourist will miss it. However, the majority of tourists strolling along the pedestrian street, are limited to the examination of the Cathedral from the outside and his photography, and very rarely go inside. Meanwhile, the decoration of the Church inside is very nice and is not inferior to its external beauty. It is a monument of religious architecture of Kazan.
The exact date of Foundation of the temple is unknown, but the first mention of a wooden Church of St. Nicholas in this place is found in 1565, ie, only 13 years after the capture of Kazan by the troops of Ivan the terrible. At the end of the 17th century the wooden Church was replaced by stone. After that, the temple complex was rebuilt many times and extended until the end of the 19th century, has not yet taken its current appearance. In the Soviet years, like most other churches, the Cathedral was closed, but luckily the architecture has not suffered.
