A taxi ride will cost a bit more expensive than flying. But for the plane you pay $ 100 per passenger, and the taxi for the whole car 140-200 dollars depending on your ability to look and haggle. So taxi is obviously more profitable if you are some people. Time will take about 5 hours.
Despite the short distance, to travel between the Islands by bus+ferry should devote almost a full day. Night journeys between the Islands there, so you need to plan the shipment in the first half of the day.
There are regular buses and tourist buses. We traditionally recommend you to use a Shuttle that will depart from the bus stations.
Buses – the most reliable method, although not the most convenient in terms of the places of departure and arrival, as well as schedule. Sometimes you have to do to transplant them. In Phuket they depart/arrive from the new Phuket bus station (read more about the bus station of Phuket and how to get it here), Samui arrive/depart from Don Sak pier on the mainland. Further from the pier by ferry Seatran will remain to cross to Koh Samui (about 1.5 hours), the cost of the ferry is included in the price of a bus ticket. In the end, the end point in Koh Samui – Nathon pier, where the desired location on Samui can already be reached by taxis, songthaews or simply by taxi. Perhaps in connection with the introduction into operation in 2014 in Samui new bus terminal (bus station Koh Samui on the map), in a short time it will become the end point of the route. But even in this case, you had better get off the bus at the pier to Nathon, because there is easier access to popular beaches on songthaews.
Such a direct Shuttle bus runs only once a day, departs at 09:00. Although some sources mention about another bus at 07:00, but maybe he goes in high season. Journey time overall is about 8 hours, arriving in Samui at 17:00. The price is 450 baht. Tickets are sold only at ticket offices of bus terminals and anywhere else not to buy.
If you get to this bus failed, you still can get with connecting flights to Surat Thani (it is the nearest transport hub on Samui). This bus service is more active. So, from Phuket bus station in Suratthani every hour from 07:00 to 17:00 there is a minivan, and 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 there is a large bus at a cost of 195 baht. Arriving at the bus station in Surat Thani, you will need to get the bus to Don Sak pier and then a ferry to Nathon for about 300 baht including ferry.
Now, about another fashion – branded carrier Phantip Travel. It is a well-known company with a well-developed route network in the South of Thailand and my own transportation. On this route, a convenient Shuttle service from 450 baht including ferry. Depart daily from Koh Samui at 07:30 and 09:30, Phuket to 08:00, 09:00, 10:00. E. strange, but on the official website of Samui to Phuket is 2 buses and 3!?
You can buy tickets at the pier in Nathon on Koh Samui, in the offices of the company, at any travel Agency on the website of the company http://phantiptravel.com. The office of the company on Koh Samui: 11/4 Moo 3, Taveeradpakdee Rd, Nathon, about 100 metres from Nathon pier, the landmark - Krungsri Bank.
Departure/arrival occurs with the new bus terminal of Samui from Nathon pier and Phuket from the company office located at the bus station. Conveniently, tickets can be purchased at almost any travel Agency, with over 600 baht sold transfers, including transportation from the hotel to the place of departure. Also in the process of moving you will be asked for an additional 200 baht to take you to your hotel at the destination, or drive to one of affilirovannyh hotels where you will have to stay at least for the night.
And now for the cons Phantip Travel. Despite promises to arrive at your destination by a certain time, feel free to add another 5-6 hours minimum. Moving does not always go on a big bus, sometimes they're replaced by minivans. During the route you will have to do 2-3 transplants to expect in different cafes and transport points of the company. So at each stage you will get with the proposals for additional transfer to the hotel and hotel deals. Sometimes, the routes of divorces happen when Phuket passengers taken to the bus station, and very inconveniently located office, where they will offer the same Shuttle service for 200 baht, and if you don't agree, just leave you in this place, and you need to travel independently on anything, and no transportation nearby except taxis, will not.
Omnipresent, the company, Lomprayah also offers transfers on the route Phuket-Koh Samui and back. Unlike Phantip, lompraya almost never happens no unpleasant surprises, the transportation is very fast, but the cost is high. Part of the route passes from Phuket by bus, and on Samui is already on a fast catamaran.
Departure from Thailand is from the company office in the centre of Phuket town (on the map), and on Samui you arrive at Nathon pier. Daily only one flight: Phuket to Koh Samui at 10:00, arrival 16:45; from Koh Samui to Phuket at 12:45, arrival 21:00. The cost is 750 baht. Information about the schedule and the cost on the website of the company http://www.lomprayah.com/.
