Wat Mahathat Worawihan Phetchaburi in
Wat Mahathat Worawihan this is perhaps the most important and Central temple of the city. His beautiful white prang is visible from any place Petchaburi, and is the most recognizable local architectural structure. In its architecture are easily recognized Khmer motifs, which is not surprising since it was originally built 800 years ago. It has the status of a Royal temple.
Overall this is a fairly large complex of the monastery, and there is always a lot of people, mostly locals. There's even a Playground where you can leave children while parents ask for blessings from the Buddha. You can walk freely throughout the territory of the complex and to go into any buildings, but we should show respect and remove your shoes when entering the temple, to be appropriately dressed: do not enter the temple in a mini-skirt, shorts or with bare shoulders. To get to the Central prang, but it necessarily to come closer, because around him a lot more interesting, you need to enter the main building of the temple and go through it. On the opposite side of the building you will see a footprint of the Buddha.
On full inspection of Wat Mahathat Worawihan will take at least half an hour.
