The Beaches Of Krabi
Unlike other popular resorts in Thailand, Krabi's beaches there is an abundance of activities (jetski, banana, parasailing, etc.) and infrastructure in the form of cafes, loungers and umbrellas to rent, making the beaches seem even more intact. Even on the most popular beach of the province – AO Nang, you will find nothing but sand, water and palm trees because everything else is prohibited. But the problem with the lack of sun beds and umbrellas which could be easily solved with the help of a blanket or inflatable mattress, and of course the shade of the trees. In an extreme case, it is possible to bring an umbrella with you.
Here's an overview of the most popular beaches of the mainland Krabi province:
AO Nammao (Ao Nammao)
The beach and the area AO Nammao is located between AO Nang and Krabi town, but the road between these cities does not pass through it, because it is a dead end area, or even village. And the decor is appropriate here: the silence and the loneliness, almost no infrastructure, and completely deserted beaches.
But there are no people here not because here is difficult to get, but because the beaches here are the quality is below average. The bottom is not good for swimming, at low tide from the water appear logs, concrete piles, stones. Mangroves are suitable almost to the water, why in the tide the beach turns into a narrow strip, and in some places is eroding. In General, we would not recommend to choose AO Nammao to stay if a beach holiday for you in the first place. The only plus of this area is the low prices for accommodation.
AO Nang (Ao Nang)
AO Nang is the most developed and popular resort area in Krabi province. It also considered the beaches of noppharat Thara (Ao Nopparat Tara Beach), AO Nammao (Ao Nammao), Railay (Railay), Phra Nang (Phra Nang) and Tonsai (Ton Sai).
There are many hotels, cafes, restaurants, travel agencies. There is always something to do, including in the evenings. Of course, this is not Walking Street in Pattaya, but to find bars with girls working late, here you can find.
As for the beach, it is not the best. The influence of strong tides, the water goes away. And during high tide the strip of sand is in some places very narrow. All along along the coast is the main road that separates the sand from the promenade with a width of several meters. And yet, no entertainment on the beach from the category bananas and jet skis are not here, they are banned. Even umbrellas and sunbeds to rent there. You can sunbathe on your towel or an inflatable mattress, and from the sun to hide in the shadows of the trees.
Noppharat Thara (Noppharat Thara Hat)
The Nopparat Thara beach is adjacent to AO Nang from the North-West side. While it is more natural and untouched than AO Nang, but every year is becoming more like a noisy developed resort.
The beach here is not very suitable for swimming because of the shallow depth, clay bottom, and is outgoing from the banks of the water during low tide. Moreover, water is even more turbid than at AO Nang. But still it has its charms: it is beautiful and very deserted. Entertainment such as jet skis and banana is prohibited, because it is the territory of the national Park. Umbrellas and loungers to rent either.
Infrastructure in the area of Nopparat Thara mostly developed only in the Eastern part that is closer to AO Nang. Here there are hotels, shops, travel agencies and even the waterfront. If you decide to stay here, we would advise to choose a hotel with a pool, as a swim here, despite all the beauty, not very convenient.
Beach Long Beach (Long Beach)
Then after Nopparat Thara the river in 2 km stretches of long beach. It is very similar to Nopparat Thara, i.e., the same picturesque and still more intact, but completely deserted. Nothing here, except a few hotels, consisting of bungalows. Even the seedy shop or café're only at the hotels.
You can only get here by rented transport or tuk-tuk.
Beach Centara hotel (Centara Grand Beach Resort, also Pai Plong) is small, about 200 meters. Located in a secluded Bay next to the main beach of AO Nang and accessible only on foot along a mountain path or by boat. Although it is hotel beach, actually you can get here anyone can, because under Thai law all beaches are public, and no one can restrict access to them. But staff it contain beach in perfect purity, as befits a high-five. People is not enough. Cons beach: sunbeds and umbrellas can only use the hotel; prices at the only restaurant in the hotel is very high.
Ideally, if you can stay in a hotel and enjoy all the charms of this lovely beach at any time. Centara Grand Beach Resort - the hotel is not cheap, better to book it in advance. But even if you stop it will fail to get to the beach to spend time there during the day, is not difficult. The easiest way to do on the boat (for 100 baht) or kayak, but you can walk: to reach the South-Eastern edge of the beach of AO Nang (to the left), then on the wooden stairs trail over the mountain and the forest. Hiking path does not require special training, but will have to go up and down the steep steps, and even in the environment of the apes, which should not flirt. On the way will take 10-20 minutes. At the entrance to the beach must be recorded in a log hotel, but entrance fee is not taken, it is prohibited by law. Drinks and best food to bring, here are fabulously expensive by Thai standards.
To book a room in hotel Centar can here
The beaches of Railay Peninsula
In the South-East of AO Nang is Railay Peninsula. It formed its own resort area, and is located several beaches Tonsai, West Railay, Phra Nang and East Railay.
To get to them only by boat. From AO Nang and the pier in AO Namma travel traditional boats of dlinnohvostym for occupancy, the cost of 100 baht. Between the beaches, you can move on foot.

Ton SAI (Ton Sai)
The Tonsai beach is located behind beach Center, and this is another isolated Bay, and the same wonderful. Only to get here from the mainland, as the property is nestled in, has not come out can only get there by boat or from the West Railay on foot through the jungle or at low tide along the shore.
Unlike the beach, the Centara, it is much more inexpensive place. There are several inexpensive hotels and bungalows, the situation is more free as in a hippie commune. After a few days of stay you will know everyone and feel at home, so Tonsai became a favorite place for young people, especially backpackers, willing to overpay a little for the rest in this isolated corner of Paradise. Overall though, prices on Tonsai higher than on the "mainland", because everything is transported by boat.
West Railay (Railay West, West Rai Leh)
The main beach of Railay, one of the most beautiful in the province. Here are cafes and restaurants in the area, most of the time tourists spend here, because more in the resort to do and nowhere to go. About the middle of the beach area goes deeper into the local Waking Street is the main street with shops, travel agencies, cafes. Some hotels have built their pools directly overlooking the beach. In General - a Paradise with wonderful views.
But there are also disadvantages: glory'reilly is far ahead of its dimensions, and in the season here for the day comes with a lot of "touring-beachgoers" from AO Nang and Krabi town. At low tide the water goes away, becomes small, it is impossible to swim. Prices for everything are high. Water activities there (only a kayak), sun loungers and parasols and shade in short supply.
The Phra Nang Beach (Phra Nang Beach)
If so where to look for a Paradise, here. Phra Nang is among the most beautiful in the world, and definitely the most beautiful in the province. There is no infrastructure and hotels (closest hotels are within a 10-minute walk to East Railay), but the food and drinks are sold from boats, and there's nothing but white sand, emerald waters and beautiful scenery. But what is bad, and West Railay, here day arrives very much "touring" from AO Nang. And again there are sun loungers and parasols, shading a little.
To bathe here is a pleasure even at low tide. At the entrance to the beach is a large rock, which has an interesting cave Princess. Also there you can surf or snorkel around the rocks and see the underwater animals.
To get here from East and West Railay, you can walk from AO Nang by boat for 100 baht.
East Railay (Railay East)
The bathing place. Here moor the boat, at low tide the water goes very far and the bottom is muddy. However, most of the hotels in the Peninsula of Railay is located along this Bank. If you stay in one of them, even don't expect that you're going to sunbathe and swim here. Fortunately, walk to West Railay or Phra Nang is a 10 minutes walk.
