General information about O. Lanta
Lanta island (Koh Lanta) is an island in the Andaman sea in southern Thailand, in Krabi province (Ko Lanta on the map of the province). The population is slightly more than 30 thousand people. The Lanta island includes a group of 52 Islands, the largest of which are Ko Lanta Noi (small Lanta) and Ko Lanta Yai (big Lanta). They are separated by a small channel, and huddled around many tiny Islands, many of which formally uninhabited.

Koh Lanta is popular among tourists as the place for beach relaxation, great diving and snorkeling. Almost on every beach you can find travel agencies and branches of diving centers. Tickets for transport to other resorts in Thailand can be bought from the tourist offices and at the receptions of most hotels and guesthouses.
Shopping on Lanta is not developed. Necessities and food can be purchased in small shops, 7/11 and Family Mart, which occur at every step, but the major supermarkets such as Big C and Tesco shopping centers, no. ATMs, currency exchange, banks are available.
Weather and tourist seasons
Koh Lanta is a year-round resort. There are two seasons:
High season (dry season) runs from November to April. The peak season – December-January. At this time the most favorable conditions for the rest: almost no rain, always clear, not too hot. But a lot of tourists, prices are high.
Low season (rainy season) from may to October. Despite the more frequent rain and relentless heat, even at this time you can relax. The rains are rare, the sun enough. Yes, plus there are discounts on accommodation in hotels. What is really bad – there are big waves.

Shopping on Lanta. Small shops 7/11 and Family Mart are everywhere, big stores there. The nearest shopping centres are in Krabi town 80 kilometers.
Banks. ATMs are found everywhere, especially along the main road on the West coast. Banks and currency exchange can be found in the village of Ban Saladan, on the beaches of Klong Dao and Long Beach.
The Internet. Free Wifi access is available in nearly all hotels, you come across in cafes and restaurants. There is an Internet cafe with a rate of 1 baht/minute.
