What is taxi (Sonthaew) and how to use it
Taxi in Hua hin
Songthaew taxis (also known as Baht Bus) is the most affordable way to travel around Hua hin. Cheaper to move only on foot.
If you still don't know what a Thai Songthaew (pronounced roughly as "songthaews"), it is something like our taxis, only they are made in the form of small trucks with a body converted for the carriage of passengers. Which includes two parallel benches. Songthaew is translated from Thai is "two benches". They ply on certain routes and carry passengers on them.
Generally Songteo it's an amazing transport. It can be stopped look! One has only to look at them, they stop, and the driver with a smile and invites you to ride. It's a joke, of course :-). This does not always happen, sometimes you have to stop them and hand. In order to sit in Songteo can't stop. They do stay in any non-prohibited place, one has only to raise his hand or wave to them. Similarly, they are anywhere ready to drop off passengers, which you need to press the call inside the body. After that, exit the body, and pay the driver the fare through the cockpit window in front.
When using Songthaews should know that they run not only along fixed routes, but are always ready to go the route to take you anywhere like a taxi. Cost, of course, I will also like a taxi and not a bus. Keep that in mind when you ask the driver before boarding where he was going. Most often the driver Songteo glad to perceive this question as an offer to hire him as a taxi.
The fare for a taxi
in Hua hin starts from 15 baht ( see money of Thailand, the exchange rate). The price depends on the route and distance, you can always check it before boarding the bus. Inside the body there is a table with the prices between different points of the movement, but they are usually in Thai.
Almost all drivers of Songthaews in Hua hin does not speak English, but the names of the main tourist destinations in English know.

Taxis in Hua hin ply on four main routes. They differ in the color of the body, but we recommend you anyway, just in case, before boarding, ask the driver whether they follow wherever you need.
Theoretically, all taxis go by a schedule every 10-30 minutes, but in practice the schedule is not adhered to. The routes from 6:00 to 21:00, but some of the routes start at 8:00 and finish at 18:00. After that, they continue to work on routes, but carry passengers as a taxi.
The Route Khao Takiab - Hua Hin Airport
This is probably the most popular and the most convenient for tourists route. It allows you to move through the city along the coast on the main road which is very handy if you at least know roughly where you need. Upon reaching the desired area, then to any place within the city can be reached on foot.
To determine this taxi is possible by the green color of the body (exactly as in photo at top of article). They follow from the foot
of the mountain Khao Takiab to the centre of the city (in the area of Hua hin night market), and then on to the airport. They can get to the mountains of Khao Takiab, Cicada Market, bus station Hua hin, Plearnwan, Hua Hin shopping center Market Village. The fare is 15 baht, go approximately every 15 minutes from 06:00 to 18:00 (high season until 21:00, but the information is not verified by us). In the evening, carry only the price of a regular taxi.
City ring route
White taxis with red stripes (on the map the route is shown in red) follow a circular route in both directions along the main street, Thanon Phetkasem, Soi Hua Hin 94, Prapoklao (street along the railway), Hua Hin Soi 41. Go two or three times an hour, from 07:00 to 21:00, cost 15 baht.
Route Maegep - Makro
This orange machine. This route is not so convenient for tourists as green songteo. The fact that even though he passes through the city and goes to the airport, in its way, the city is on all sorts of small streets, and in General the route is convoluted. The fare is 15 baht, and I go 2-3 times per hour, from 07:00 until approximately 21:00.
This Songteo you can reach the sitting Buddha of Wat Bo Fai
The route Hua Hin Railway Station – Huay Mongkol temple
