The Wat Huay Mongkol in Hua hin

Храм Wat Huay Mongkol, Хуахин The Wat Huay Mongkol

Wat Huay Mongkol is one of the holiest places near Hua hin and one of the most important attractions. Daily it is visited by Buddhists from all over Thailand and beyond.

Unlike most other sacred places in Thailand, the main statue of the temple is not the traditional Buddha statue, and the statue of longpo of that monk (Luang Pu Thuat), who lived more than 400 years ago. This is one of the most revered Buddhist monks, not only in Thailand but also in neighboring countries. He was born in 1582, and lived exactly one hundred years. They say he performed miracles, especially healing, and stories passed from mouth to mouth for many centuries. One of those stories says that Longo saved the whole city of Ayutthaya, the then capital of Siam, from the epidemic. Thais believe that amulets with the image of longpo of that protect a person from all sorts of accidents, especially car accidents. Near the temple you can buy these amulets, just don't be surprised that they are so expensive, because for Thai people this is not just a souvenir.

Statue of a monk in the temple is the largest statue longpo of that. Its height without the runway 11.5 metres. By the way, this is a new statue, its production ended in 2004. By nightfall, about 18-19 hours, the statue is illuminated, so that it can be visited in the evening.

Of course, it is interesting not only the main statue. It formed a religious complex, but without any hint of "recruitment." Tourists of any faith can be completely free, to go anywhere. Outside the compound even formed the infrastructure of cafes, shops, a large Parking area for tourist transport and hotel.

It's safe to say that the Wat Huay Mongkol is one of the most famous and visited attractions in and around Hua hin, and it is a must see. A visit to the temple is included in most guided tours of Hua hin.

And another thing... don't forget to pass under the belly of the statue of the Bishop nine times, setting a desire, at random, as do the locals. And in the mouth of the elephant throws the coin, too, wish fulfillment and good fortune.

Operation time: from 06:00 to 21:00

Hua hin some pandemonium kupalisko on the beach is just in the center, near the Marina, and further South almost no one there. Cha-am is even quieter, but there is more to the Thais. ...
