Transport in the Philippines, than to move on
The Philippines has a system of public long-distance and urban transport, to move around the country and resorts can be inexpensive and relatively convenient. However, the question remains high-risk because Philippines is an island nation, and one of the most common and quite dangerous ways to move around the country are ferries. Also, the country is convenient and inexpensive to travel on planes and buses within large Islands.
City transportation Philippines underdeveloped. Usually in towns, there are jeepneys and tricycles. Although they ply the routes, but traffic patterns are chaotic, you can understand only with the help of local residents. Large city buses are only in some major cities. One of the most convenient ways to navigate the resorts and small Islands is the rental of vehicles by tourists. Car rental here is very expensive, but low-capacity scooter is very affordable, and also to control them is not required to obtain international law.

The country has several airlines, including the low-cost airlines, which allow very inexpensive to travel between Islands. There are airports in almost every major island, and the cost of flights to compete with travel on buses and ferries. So before you search for tickets on the bus or ferry, it is recommended to check fares, perhaps it will get even cheaper plus save a lot of time. But, of course, keep in mind that the lowest fares will not include the carriage of baggage, for it will have to pay separately.

Ferries in the Philippines is one of the main modes of transport both for locals and for tourists. And this is not surprising because the country consists of more than 7000 Islands, between which you can move only by ferry or aircraft. Only here there are about 200 regular flights ferries and speed boats, and operates in more than 30 major trucking companies, and countless small private.
A single site with schedules of ferries around the country and even at individual ports you have to check the websites of individual companies, and sometimes they don't even have websites, and the information can be accessed only on site at the ticket office in the port.
Moreover, even in the ports there is no single desks, each company sells their tickets at a separate box office. The most popular with tourists and mass for the locals directions ferry tickets are available to buy online and better to do it in advance. Because many carriers, it is best to check the schedules and buy tickets on the aggregator carriers on Asia – site 12go.asia. It is possible to buy tickets in the most popular directions, but unfortunately not all. Surprisingly and in contrast with poorly developed public transport in the Philippines has an extensive system of intercity buses within the Islands, and there are even flights from island to island with a ferry bus to the ferry. The buses are mostly air-conditioned (perhaps too much), and there is even WiFi on Board.
As with the ferries, a single schedule in the Internet is not like a single box office. Usually tickets are sold at bus terminals and to find the right help the workers of the bus station or "helpers" who only need to say what you need and you will tell me. And as with the ferry, some flights are available for online booking on the website 12go.asia.
Jeepneys (Jeepney) and vans V-hire
Jeepneys (Jeepney) is a traditional and yet the most popular form of public transport. Sometimes work on commuter and intercity routes. It is a small vans, or equipped for the carriage of passengers, old jeeps, an analogue of Thai Songthaews (Songthaew). In large cities, they run on officially arranged and numbered routes, and small can simply travel on the routes without numbers, about which I know only local residents, i.e. it is the people's taxis. Stop in any places on demand. To stop him on the road, you just need to wave and to stop during a trip from the body, you need to click on the bell (if installed) or knock on the roof. The fare is 8 pesos.
But jeepneys are gradually replacing the more modern vehicles – vans V-hire. In essence, they work just as well as jeepneys, but mainly on commuter and short intercity routes. Their fare is more expensive.
Tricycles, pedicabs, motorcycle taxis
These types of transport are used as taxis for short trips, although sometimes the tricycles (trike) runs and trails. In most cases the price is negotiable: locals pay 10 pesos for a short ride, with foreigners asking 50 or above. Must bargain, as they are often asking speculative prices that are higher than the car taxis.
In very rare cases, the resorts price ride tricycles are regulated by the authorities. For example, this is done in Boracay and Siquijor, where each driver of the tricycle, there is something like a license plate with the prices at which the cost of travel is defined between critical points of the island. But in these cases, the drivers manage to Rob tourists, do not know the information about cost.
Official car taxis in the Philippines can be found only in large cities and at most resorts this type of transport is missing. In this case, replace car taxi ride tricycles, or order a car with driver through the reception of the hotels, for example.
All official car taxis are metered. The cost is 40 pesos for landing at 13.5 pesos per 1 kilometer and 2 pesos for every minute of the journey, including Parking, or idling in traffic jams. In the end, a short trip within the city will cost you:
- Up to 2 kilometers – 70 pesos (101.88 RUB, see the Philippine currency and the exchange rate);
- From 2 to 5 miles – 70-120 pesos (174.64 RUB.);
- From 5 to 10 kilometers – 120-200 pesos (291.07 RUB).
But be sure before you travel make sure the driver that he will take you with the included counter, as they sometimes like to carry tourists without an included counter, and at the end of the trip to announce an arbitrary price. An alternative is to order via the Uber app or Grab. In them you will immediately see the cost of the trip, and there are payment online with card. Unfortunately, the apps work far not everywhere.
As in all the countries of South-East Asia, in the Philippines, tourists and travelers are very popular rental vehicles, especially low-powered motorcycles (more commonly called scooters, motorbike, mopeds). Find vehicles to rent is not difficult in any resort, in cities, airports. But, of course, motorbikes are not available at airports, but they can be rented on arrival to the Islands from ports.
Rental prices differ depending on the island, but in General knocks the rent will cost around 300 peso (436.61 RUB). Sometimes you can bargain to 250 pesos/day (363.84 RUB) when you rent for a few days, and if you take a week or longer, you can get an even bigger discount. Bargaining is necessary, and quite possible to bring down the price to those specified, they are valid in 2020. But there are exceptions: Boracay valid taxi driver mafia, which does not allow to reduce the rent below 2500 pesos per day!!!
For control of a rented vehicle in the Philippines is enough to have the national rights of the new sample, there's no need even to international law (IDP, International Driving Permit). But that was all according to the law, you have to be open to "a" category. The view that the right to control a low-power scooter does not need to be misleading.
Until recently it was believed that the police do not much pay attention to the category of transport specified in the/at tourists, but the situation is gradually changing. In 2019 the frequent "raids" on the road, during which the police arrange a temporary check points (Check point), and check the documents and the condition of transport everyone, including tourists.
