Plateau Dieng (Dieng Plateau) is a high plateau in Central Java (Indonesia), is located at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level in 105 kilometro od Yogyakarta (Dieng Plateau on the map). How to visit Dieng plateau
Ideally you should come here for a few days, staying at a hotel, or to make an ascent to the mount Prau (Gunung Prau) overnight in tent at the top and meeting dawn. You can, of course, one night stay at the hotel, in the afternoon to explore the plateau and then climb the mountain and spend the night there, or Vice versa. But if the opportunity to sleep and to climb the mountain you have not, it is possible here to arrive at least one day to briefly explore the main attractions. These day tours are offered from Yogyakarta, but honestly, you do most of the time you'll spend on the road, and there is little to see.
Plateau is a national Park, and entering will be charged a symbolic fee of 10, 000 rupees (50.68 RUB). After payment you are given a ticket which allows you free access to multiple attractions, mostly the observation deck, but nothing particularly interesting on them, so you can skip if time is short. Further, the access to certain attractions is to be paid additionally, some visited for free.
How to get to Dieng Plateau
Dieng plateau is located 100 kilometers from Yogyakarta, and best of all it is to get here. Would have to travel only by land, there are no other options. The nearest airport and the nearest railway station are also in Yogyakarta.
Local transport is not here, so best to come here on rented vehicles, and travel independently. Otherwise you'll have to navigate between landmarks on the plateau by foot or short taxi ride to. On the place to rent a car will not work, rental offices, no.

Roads on the plateau all good, asphalt lead to every attraction, except for the tops of the mountains, of course. The routes on the mountain are the real mountaineering camps, which leads the asphalt. Another simple option is to visit plateau tour from Yogyakarta. There are one-day and multi-day, multi-day but not easy to find, almost everywhere offers simple day for 10 hours. The main and only entry point is the town of Wonosobo (Wonosobo), where often during the day are sent to a small bus costing 15,000 rupees. In turn to Wonosobo can be reached with transfers:

- From Jakarta there are direct buses to Wonosobo or to take the train to Purwokerto (Purwokerto), and there take the bus. You can also take the train to Yogyakarta, but it turns out a longer route.

The temple complex Arjuna / Arjuna Complex

Crater Cikidang / Sikidang Crater
Kawah Sikidang or Sikidang Crater - the largest and most famous crater on a plateau, filled with boiling water with the smell of hydrogen sulfide. Color lake, Telaga Warna

Gunung Prau / Gunung Prau

Bisma Mount / Gunung Bisma
