Guide to Bogor
General information about Bogor
Bogor (Bogor) is a city on the island of Java in Indonesia, near Jakarta, 50 km from its center (Bogor on the map). Included in the urban district of Jakarta and is often perceived by tourists as a suburb of the capital, because it really is on the edge of almost not stopping urban agglomeration, i.e. you will not even feel that you have arrived in a different city from Jakarta, boundaries, and separation between them just yet, despite the impressive distance. But do not think that this humble little town, but rather the opposite: the population of Bogor, over a million people, and is one of the most densely-populated cities in the world.
Bogor as an independent tourist destination would not be very interesting. Watch here nothing in particular, but one attraction that deserves special attention. This Botanical garden Kebun Raya with exotic tropical plants, birds and animals. Therefore, the majority of foreign tourists come here for one day from Jakarta by yourself or on a tour, or stop for the day and overnight on the way from the capital to other places on the island. One day is really quite enough to come from Jakarta to Bogor, to see this through and return by the evening back. Longer nothing to do here, but keep in mind that your day trip can be spoilt by rain: the geographical position of the city is that here almost every day is raining.
Infrastructure in the city for tourists is developed perfectly. There are hundreds of hotels, cafes and restaurants transport, so if you decide to stay here for a day and night, no problems will arise.

Damri buses leave from all three terminals of the airport, tickets are bought at the counter inside the terminal or at the exit. The fare is 55 000 rupees (about 4 US dollars, see the currency of Indonesia and the exchange rate). Buses depart every 30 minutes during daylight hours only (from 04:00 to 22:00), on the road 2-4 hours depending on the traffic on the road. Be careful when buying buy a ticket for the route to the bus station Botani Square, not to Cibinong City Mall. The commuter train (KRL Commuterline or), in our opinion, the best way to get to Bogor. Is the fare of a penny, while trains pass by all the traffic jams, especially during peak hours and on Fridays. but keep in mind that generally trains are overcrowded, people literally go on the roofs, so be prepared to knock.
The train to Bogor from Jakarta depart from the stations of Jakarta Kota, and along the way make stops at all the city stations, including Juanda (the closest station to the railway station Gambir) and Gondangdia (closest to the tourist areas of Jakarta, see about these stations and their position on the map here). But at the train station Gambir these trains do not stop. Go from 05:50 until 23:45, back to Bogor from 04:00 until 21:47 every 10-50 minutes. The fare is less than $ 1. You should buy a ticket to the station of Bogor (code – BOO).
In the city the trains running to the station in the city centre near the Botanical gardens and other attractions (railway station on the map). The main entrance to the Botanic garden from the station half a kilometer walk or can be reached by buses plying along the perimeter of the Botanical garden for 3000 rupees.
If you choose and back to Jakarta to take the train, keep in mind that not all of them go to the station Gondangdia Jakarta, or Kota, especially in the evening. So check when purchasing tickets and boarding.
