Banyuwangi (Banyuwangi) – a small town on the Eastern edge of the island of Java in Indonesia (Banyuwangi on the map). First of all, he is known as a transit point between the Islands of Java and Bali, because here there is a ferry connecting the two Islands. Although to be precise, ferry and train station are in the village of Ketapang (Ketapang), 8 kilometers North of the city, but in all schedules, and guides the point of a transplant is just Banyuwangi.
But not only one ferry to Bali it is important and interesting for tourists. It is the closest point with a more or less developed infrastructure the famous volcano Ijen, and it's easier and cheaper just to get the starting point of the ascent in the camp of Pos Paltuding. How to get to Banyuwangi
Banyuwangi – an important transport hub, through which runs a passenger service to the island of Bali via ferry. Therefore, it has an airport, railway, bus connections with other cities in Java island and Bali.
On the plane
Near Banyuwangi has a small airport of Banyuwangi Airport (airport code BWX, airport map). It operates flights from Jakarta international airport, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Surabaya local airlines Garuda, Citilink, Wings Air, Nam Air. Here is two railway stations:

By bus you can reach from Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Probolinggo, as well as from Denpasar on Bali with a ferry crossing. On the ferry
Ferry service to the island of Bali is active all day, ferries depart every 30 minutes, about 45 minutes. Marina, ferry is two kilometers North of the city (the pier on the map). The Ijen Volcano
One of the most famous and visited natural attractions in Indonesia is the Ijen volcano (cava Ijen, Kawah Ijen) located on the Ijen plateau, 40 kilometers from the city centre. It is an active volcano, but the last active eruption was in 1936.
Tourists come here to night to see a dazzling blue flame burning sulfur, the world's largest acid lake, and to see the sunrise at the crater ridge. One of the attractions – the sulphur miners. The Island Of Pulau Tabuhan
A small island of Pulau Tabuhan size is only 300 metres away is in the middle between Bali and Java. To get here, you need to hire a boat.
